Saímos cedo de El Bordo e só paramos para tomar café da manhã em Pastos, depois de uns 160km rodados.
Hoje passamos por um trecho da Panamericana, entre El Bordo e Pastos que podemos afirmar que foi uma das estradas mais lindas que já passamos em nossas vidas e olha que já temos alguns kilometros rodados… Muito lindo mesmo, nao cansavamos de admirar a paisagem. Uma serra maravilhosa, belíssimas paisagens. Até agora de todos os lugares que passamos desde Toronto este foi o trecho mais bonito.

Quando você fala de Panamericana como você imagina a estrada? Nós imaginávamos uma estrada bem sinalizada com trechos duplicados devido ao movimento. Engano nosso, só conhecendo mesmo para saber. A Panamericana é uma estrada de pista simples, com alguns trechos bem precários, obras intermináveis, alguns trechos sem sinalização alguma e alguns em bom estado de conservação. Não é uma estrada que você possa andar a uma velocidade constant. Sempre tem de estar de olho em animais ou pessoas que podem cruzar a pista. Enfim, não rende…

Após Pastos seguimos em direção a Ipiales para visitar a Virgem de Las Lajes, uma igreja que foi construída na rocha e muito importante para o povo Colombiano. Muito bonita!

Hoje também paramos para verificar o Cardan, Rafael estava encucado com o fato do que aconteceu ontem (da moto não ter forca). Talvez seja pelo fato de falta de graxa, pegamos tanta chuva que talvez tenha lavado toda a graxa. Mais uma vez fomos o centro de atenção do lugar, teve um momento que tinha uns 6 homens em volta de nós e da moto. Praticamente o Rafael que fez tudo, ele que desmontou e montou tudo e o rapaz só colocou a graxa.

Seguimos viagem em direção a fronteira Colombia – Equador. Que diferença de todas as fronteiras que já passamos, bem organizado, não tem aquela gente colando oferecendo serviços.
Fizemos a saída da Colômbia o que foi super rápido, hora de fazer a entrada no Equador. Também foi super tranquilo, bem organizado. Na fronteira encontramos com 2 rapazes (um deles Canadense de Alberta e o outro Israelense) também viajando de moto, desde o Alaska e vão seguir até o Ushuaia. Trocamos algumas experiências e seguiram viajem.
Tudo certo na fronteira do Equador, hora de seguir viagem. Rodamos poucos metros e sentimos o pneu esquisito. Paramos para verificar e adivinha… Estava furado!
Fomos atrás de borracharia para consertar e descobrimos que estava furado no mesmo lugar que já tínhamos consertado na Guatemala. O rapaz da borracharia tentou arrumar, mas mesmo assim estava vazando ar. Rodamos a cidade de Tulcan atrás de uma borracharia que arrumasse pneu sem câmara, acabou ficando tarde demais e não vamos pegar a estrada a noite. Só nos resta dormir por aqui.

We left early from El Bordo and stopped after 160km to have our breakfast in Pastos.
Today we went through a stretch of the Pan American, between El Bordo and Pasts that we can say it is one of the most beautiful roads we have ever drive in our lives. Very gorgeous road, we could not stop to admire the scenery. Beautiful mountains, gorgeous landscapes. Since we started our trip in Toronto it was the most beautiful stretch.

When you talk about Pan American highway, how do you imagine it? We imagined a busy highway very well maintained but we were wrong. The Pan American highway is a single lane with some very precarious stretches, constructions everywhere, poor signaling and few stretches in good condition. There are mens working to improve the highway but it is very slow, looks like it will take years and years to fix everything. Pan American is not a highway that you can drive in a constant speed. You have to watch for animals and people that can cross the highway at anytime.

After Pastos we went towards Ipiales to visit the Virgin of Las Lajes , a church that was built on the rock and very important for the Colombian people. Very beautiful !

Today we also had to stop to check the shaft, Rafael was worried with the fact of what happened yesterday (the bike lost power) . It could be because of lack of grease , we got so much rain that may have washed the grease. Again we were the center of attention, there was a moment that I counted 6 men around us and the bike. Rafael did everything, he dismounted and mounted everything and the guy just put the grease.

We continue our journey towards Colombia border and Ecuador. What a difference from all the boundaries that we have passed, this one was well organized and did not have the folks running after you to sell their services.
It was fast to exit from Colombia, all paperwork was easy and fast. Time to do our entry into Ecuador which was also fast and well organized. At the border crossing we met 2 guys (one Canadian from Alberta and the other Israeli) also traveling by motorcycle from Alaska to Ushuaia. We exchanged some experiences and let’s keep on going.
After we left Ecuador border we drove few kilometers and felt something odd with the tire. We stopped to check and guess what… Flat tire!

We went to repair it and found that the problem was exactly on the same spot as we fixed in Guatemala. The guy from the tire shop tried to fix it but it was still leaking air.
We ran Tulcan city after a tire shop that can fix tubeless tire, it ended up too late and we don’t want to hit the road at night. Better to sleep here.
