Km:250 Tulcan – Quito
Tempo: nublado, alguns trechos ensolarado e alguns com uma chuva bem fraca

Acordamos cedo e saímos de Tulcan, mas antes verificamos a pressão do pneu traseiro mais uma vez para ter certeza de que não teríamos problemas…
As estradas do Equador são ótimas, coisa de 1o. Mundo quando comparamos com as estradas que passamos até agora. Alguns trechos com pista duplicada, na maioria pista simples mas em ótimas condições e até agora todas elas pedagiadas. Moto paga, mas é barato, apenas 20 centavos de dolar americano. E a gasolina então… Muito barato!!!! Um galão custa 2 dólares, Rafael até pensou em encher umas garrafas plásticas para quando a gasolina ficar mais caro… Era só o que faltava… Já imaginou nos carregando gasolina extra na moto??? Coisa de mão de vaca, digo, Rafael. 🙂
Todas as estradas muito bem policiadas e o povo respeita muito mais, respeitam velocidade, respeitam quando atravessa povoado…
Ahhh, e o povo Equatoriano é muito acolhedor, todos eles se aproximam para conversar e sempre oferecem ajuda.

Estávamos bem perto para chegar a Metade do Mundo quando novamente sentimos a moto balançar a traseira. Adivinha só, o pneu estava murchando mais uma vez. Pela terceira vez temos que parar e arrumar sempre o mesmo furo!!! Achamos uma borracharia e mais uma vez o borracheiro colocou o tal do macarrão para consertar, mas logo vimos que isso não ia aguentar por muito tempo.

No caminho para Metade do Mundo estávamos de olho em algum lugar que pudesse fazer um serviço decente e definitivo. A solução seria desmontar a roda e colocar um patch por dentro do pneu. Achamos um lugar que até então nos pareceu que ia resolver o problema. Tudo estava indo ótimo até quando o rapaz riscou a roda quando encaixando o pneu. Rafa ficou doido, espumava de raiva e logo começou a reclamar do serviço. Ele falou um monte para o rapaz que ficou até sem reação. Infelizmente acho que o rapaz queria fazer o serviço correndo e não tomou cuidado algum. Resultado, a roda ficou tão riscada que o Rafael fez o rapaz lixar o alumínio da roda para melhorar um pouco.

Fazer o quê, o problema já estava feito e não adiantava reclamar. Pneu consertado, hora de conferir se o problema foi realmente resolvido. E não é que ainda estava vazando pressão? Bem pouco mas estava. Não deu outra, aí que o Rafael ficou mais doido de raiva ainda. Enfim, pagamos e demos o fora, de nada ia adiantar reclamar mais e fazer o rapaz refazer o serviço, capaz de riscar ainda mais a roda… Seguimos em frente e até consertar isso de vez teremos que checar a pressão todos os dias.

Passado o stress do pneu chegamos na Metade do Mundo. Para falar a verdade não é a metade do mundo, conferimos com o GPS e o mesmo mostra que a metade do mundo seria uns 300 metros ao norte. Mas valeu, naquela época não tinha GPS então… Vamos dar um desconto. 🙂

Cintia e Lilian: não temos como agradecer pela indicação, simplesmente maravilhoso! Rafael matou a vontade comendo ceviche e eu comi camarão que estava saboroso demais. A todos que um dia visitarem Quito não deixe de comer no Ecuaviche, comida de qualidade!

Visitamos o centro histórico de Quito que é muito legal, as igrejas são lindíssimas. Até missa assistimos na Igreja de São Francisco Xavier afinal de contas só temos a agradecer!!!

We left Tulcan early but before we checked the rear tire pressure once more to make sure that we would not have problems…
The roads in Ecuador are great with some doubled stretches, mostly single lane but in great condition and so far all of them tolled. They charge motorcycle but it is very cheap, only 20 US cents. How about the gasoline… Very cheap!! A gallon costs $2, Rafael thought of filling up a plastic bottle for when the gas gets more expensive… Can you imagine us doing it? Just silly. This is cheapskate thing, I mean Rafael thing. 🙂

All roads are very well policed ​​and the drivers respect the speed limit as well when passing through small cities. Also the Ecuadorian people are very welcoming, they all approach to talk and always offer help.

We were close enough to reach Half of the World when once again we feel the rear tire acting weird. Guess what, again a flat tire and for the third time we have to fix the same hole! We found a tire repair shop and the guy fixed it but we did not believe it was going to last.
On the way to Half of the World we were looking for a tire shop that could do a decent and permanent job. The solution would be to remove the wheel and put a patch inside the tire. We found a place that until then seemed to us that would solve the problem. Everything was going great until when the guy scratched the wheel very badly when fitting the tire. Rafael went crazy, he was really mad and soon began to complain about the job. He complaint a lot to the guy who seems not worried at all. Unfortunately we think the guy wanted to finish the job very fast and was careless. As a result the wheel was badly scratched that Rafael asked the guy to sand the aluminum wheel to improve a bit.
Well, we cannot do anything more and keep on complaining was not going to resolve anything.
Tire repaired, time to check if the problem was really solved. We could not believe when we saw that it was still leaking some pressure, very little but it was. Rafael got even crazier and anger. Anyway, we paid and left, it was useless to complain more and the last thing that we want is that the same guy touch the shell again, he could cause a bigger problem. Let’s move on and for now we will have to keep on checking the pressure every day.

After the stress with the tire we arrived in Half the World. To speak the truth is not half the world, we checked with GPS and it shows that half the world would be about 300 meters north. Fine, at that time GPS did not exist then … Let’s ignore it and enjoy. 🙂
We visited all the Half the world area and went to Quito, direction: Restaurant Ecuaviche indicated by my dear Ecuadorian friends Cintia and Lilian.

Cintia and Lilian: We can not thank you enough for your help, it was amazing! Rafael fulfill his desire to eat ceviche and I had shrimp that was so tasty. To all of you, if one day you visit Quito please be sure to go to Ecuaviche restaurant.

We visited Quito’s historic center which is very beautiful, all churches are so gorgeous. We even watched a mass at Saint Francisco Xavier church after all we only have to thank!
