Km: 479. Zipaquira – Bogotá – Gigante, Colombia
Tempo: frio, nublado pela manhã, a tarde um calor insuportável

Saímos cedo de Zipaquira e fomos a Nemocon para visitar mais uma catedral de sal mas infelizmente a mesma só abre para visitação as 9:00 da manhã o que para nós seria tarde demais.
Resolvemos dar meia volta e seguir viagem. As estradas que pegamos até agora na Colombia são ótimas, o asfalto novinho com bastante policiamento e exército. Até agora não temos do que reclamar.

Tivemos que passar por Bogotá pois era caminho e continuamos em direção a Girardo. A estrada muito bonita com muitas curvas e muitos restaurantes. A nossa moto nunca tinha rodado em tanta curva. Próximo a La Mesa tem tantos restaurantes na beira da estrada que não resistimos e resolvemos parar. Muito boa a comida colombiana, experimentamos a vara e arepa, até engraçado o nome… Demos risada. Vara é uma linguiça típica colombiana e arepa é como uma massa de batata grelhada com queijo dentro. Muito bom!

Depois de La Mesa descemos por volta de uns 2200 metros e o calor apertou. O termômetro bateu 36 graus, tivemos que parar e tirar todo o forro da roupa de moto, estava de derreter! Incrível como em questão de poucos kilometros a temperatura muda muito.

Até Neiva tudo plano com a Cordilheira sempre em volta. A serra começa novamente após Neiva, com a estrada boa e paisagens muito bonitas. Como já estava quase escurecendo, estávamos de olho em hotel pois a última coisa que queremos é pegar esta serra a noite. Por sorte achamos um hotel (Villa Claudia) muito legal na beira da estrada uns 80km após Noiva, próximo a cidade Gigante (que de gigante não tem nada…) e não hesitamos. Vamos descansar o esqueleto por aqui mesmo.

We left Zipaquira early and went towards Nemocon in order to visit another salt cathedral but unfortunately we could not visit because it open only at 9:00am and this is too late for us. We have to hit the road… All the roads that we took so far in Colombia are good, new ashfalt with lots of police and army. So far nothing to complain.

We had to pass through Bogota because it was on the way to Giriardo. The road is very beautiful with lots of turns and restaurants. Our bike never experienced specialists many turns before.
There are lots of restaurants on the road close to La Mesa, we could not resist and had to stop to have a lunch. The colombian food is very good, we tried “vara and arepa”. Vara is kind of colombian sausage and arepa is kind of grilled potato and cheese.

After we passed La Mesa we started to descend around 2200 meters and the heat was intense. It was showing 36 degrees, we had to stop immediately to remove the inner part from our motorcycle gear. It was extremely hot!
Until Neiva city it was very flat but the mountains always around. The hill begin after Neiva, beautiful scenery and the road condition is good. We were already looking for hotels because it was getting dark and we don’t want to ride at night. We found a hotel (Villa Claudia) close to the city called Gigante and we could not think twice. We will rest because we have more tomorrow.
